Ian James Pereira is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Pereira of Prairieville, LA. He is currently a junior at Louisiana State University where he studies Industrial Engineering. He is a graduate of Dutchtown High School in Prairieville where he graduated in the top 3% of his class. Ian is a member of Theta Chi fraternity and active with several philanthropic charities.
In 2011, Ian organized the first food drive at local grocery stores to support St. John’s Social Outreach. St. John’s provides meals and financial assistance to approximately 50 struggling families on a monthly basis and over 175 families during the holidays. Since Ian’s first food drive, they have collected over 20,000 non perishable items and thousands of dollars to help support these families.
Since August 2015, Ian has been employed with Louisiana State University in the Engineering Department as a student worker. In addition, he has worked with the Ascension Parish School Board in the maintenance department during off seasons from school.
Ian has one younger brother, Michael. His hobbies include: intermural sports, football, traveling and spending time with friends and family. He enjoys his down time, but as with most engineering majors, he does not have much of that. Most days you will find him at class, working, or in the LSU library.
Ian is grateful to represent Krewe Mystique as their King for the 2017-2018 season. As the youngest King in Krewe’s history he is humbled by this opportunity.
